TUITION AND SCHOLARSHIPS 2017-2018

Sapienza has cut tuition fees for 42,000 students and further extends the measures set by the national government. University funds for over two million euro will provide support to low-income families and meritorious students.

NEW MEASURES

  • Full exemption for meritorious students, including freshmen, with an ISEE declaration up to €14,000 (€1000 more than national requirements);
  • Up to 20% reduction for students with an ISEE declaration up to € 40,000;
  • Full exemption for all doctorate students;
  • Elimination of all other taxes and costs, such as the graduation fee, except for additional requested services.

CONFIRMED MEASURES

  • Bonus for meritorious students to be used for enrolment in the subsequent academic year;
  • Full exemption for first-year students who score 100/100 on their diploma;
  • Tuition fee reductions for first-year students who score 95/100 or better on their diploma;
  • Special reductions for families with more than one sibling enrolled at Sapienza.

This financial measure, worth well over €2 million, has been made possible thanks to the virtuous management of university funds and notwithstanding the gradual decline in state funding. Approximately 42,000 students, nearly two-thirds of currently enrolled students, will benefit from these tuition fee cuts.

THE RECTOR'S COMMENT

"The measures recently introduced by the Government in favour of low-income families and meritorious students reflects the policies first adopted by Sapienza University two years ago,” points our Rector Eugenio Gaudio. “We have not only adopted new measures, but we have also strengthened and extended existing ones thanks to the availability of university funds. The right to study, as declared in our constitution, is guaranteed to the widest possible number of individuals."

PAY BASED ON YOUR ISEE

For students who do not fall into the benefits, Sapienza applies a model that allows each student to determine the amount of reduced fees compared to the ordinary measure exactly because of their ISEE value for the right to university study (Board of Directors Resolution 11 June 2013).
All students (except those who choose "do not declare" option) are obliged to calculate the Isee 2017 at a Caf (Centro Assistenza Fiscale) or on line on the INPS website. The calculation of the Isee at the Caf is free of charge.

Please note: We need several weeks to receive the ISEE declaration, so please be sure to immediately request the certification. The ISEE form must be completed by December.

Where you can complete your ISEE Application

The Isee determines the indicator of the household's economic status and declares itself on Infostud at the time of printing the tax bulletin.
Bill 159/2013 introduced new rules for calculating the ISEE by providing Art. 8for the right to university study.
The amount of fees is automatically calculated in Infostud according to the ISEE declared. We urge students to verify the correctness of the declared data because unjustified statements may incur in penal and administrative sanctions. The sanctions apply even if the amount declared is slightly different from the verified amount, because the law only provides for false or truthful statements, regardless of the extent of the difference.

To help you determine the amount of reduced fees, a calculator will be available on this page to show the amount you pay by entering your Isee value.

2017-2018 TUITION FEES

For graduate and master's degree programs, the ordinary amount of tuition fees is diversified into two "Groups" that aggregate homogeneous faculties or degree programs: the interfaculty courses involve the faculty in charge of administrative management.

Group 1 Degree Programmes: Faculties of Economics, Law, Humanities, Political Sciences, Sociology, Communication and Programmes L-19, L-39 and LM-85.

Group 2 Degree Programmes: Faculties of Architecture, Pharmacy and Medicine, Civil and Industrial Engineering, Information Engineering, Computer Science and Statistics, Medicine and Psychology, Medicine and Dentistry, Mathematics, Physics and Natural Sciences.

Fees are divided into three instalments to allow students to divide the payment.
