Electronics Engineering

MDEE PROGRAMME. The Master Degree in Electronics Engineering (MDEE) at Sapienza University of Rome  provides students with specific skills related to electronic digital systems, integrated components, microwave circuits, radiofrequency systems and advanced communications together with multidisciplinary laboratory competences and mathematical advanced topics (class LM-29). Other subjects range from discrete circuits to machine learning, advanced antennas to electromagnetic scattering, circuit design to embedded systems, nano-electronics to power electronics, optoelectronics to lasers and accelerators, environmental electronics to Earth observation, and bioengineering to wireless communication systems. The programme emphasises system-related and interdisciplinary aspects and is closely linked with research and innovation activities in the Italian and international job-market context. Students can also complete their Master thesis through a stage.

The MDEE is held entirely in English and provides students with advanced concepts, professional training and specific engineering skills, enabling them to address complex issues requiring analysis, development, simulation and optimization in a wide range of electronic-related topics.

The mandatory subjects of the MDEE are the following (66 credits, 660 hours of lectures):

  1. Microwave fundamentals (9 credits)
  2. Electrical communications II (9 credits)
  3. Electronic integrated components (9 credits)
  4. Digital integrated system architectures (9 credits)
  5. Radiofrequency electronic systems (9 credits)
  6. Advanced mathematics (6 credits)
  7. Multidisciplinary laboratory of electronics (15 credits)

Other 36 credits can be chosen by the student within a wide offer of subjects in Electronics Engineering. A final Master thesis of 18 credits (450 hours of work), to be presented and discussed, concludes the programme (the final grade is expressed in 110 with possible laude).

MDEE ORGANIZATION. MDEE is managed by the Department of Information engineering, Electronics and Telecommunications (DIET) at Sapienza University of Rome:

MDEE SELECTION PROCESS. The MDEE selection process, after applying for pre-selection which does NOT replace or substitute the embassy-based pre-enrolment process for non-European students (see, is formed by three phases with the following schedule:

- November 1, 2017: pre-enrolment opens.

1st selection phase

- December 1-15, 2017: first selection phase. Letters of acceptance are sent to the best candidates who have applied in November. Unselected applicants will be considered for the second selection phase.

2nd selection phase

- February 1-15, 2018: second selection phase. Letters of acceptance are sent to the best candidates who have applied from 1 December to 31 January or who have not been selected in the first phase.

- April 15, 2018: pre-enrolment for NON-EU students closes.

3rd selection phase

- April 16-30, 2018: third selection phase. Letters of acceptance are sent to the best candidates who have applied from 1 February to 15 April or who have not been selected in the first and second phase.

- May 31, 2018: pre-enrolment for EU students closes.
