Sapienza Skills and Expertise

Skills and Expertise, part of  Elsevier SciVal Experts suite, has now been adopted by Sapienza University to map its research skills and provide a researchable database to access the university's research expertise.

The goal is to increase opportunities for interdisciplinary and international collaboration through the creation of a showcase of the university's scientific production, and promote knowledge discovery  among researchers, other universities across the globe and local enterprise.

SciVal Experts is the right tool both for Sapienza and other university researchers and institutions:

  • To discover multidisciplinary research groups, both within  Sapienza University and with other research insitutions in Europe and beyond
  • To find and aggregate skills to create new collaborative research groups as well as new funding opportunities
  • To publicise new faculty and post-doc appointments
  • To locate mentors for research activities

SciVal Experts is populated with publication data from  Elsevier's Scopus database as well as Sapienza's  own grant databases.

Initially 1.000 researchers, 800 of whom are our youngest reserachers, have been profiled and will be accessible in 2014. At a further stage,

  • All researcher profiles will be completed
  • A gallery showing Sapienza's expertise and competences will be available.
