Visiting Researcher Fellowships

Sapienza promotes and encourages international research by facilitating joint research projects and regularly hosting visiting researchers and professors from leading foreign universities and research centres.

Sapienza issues an annual call, for joint research activities.

The new call has been issued and will open on April 10, 2017.

Application deadline is May 19, 2017.

APPLICATION

Academics from Sapienza must submit the application form to invite visiting researchers and professors, indicating the candidature of the visiting researcher/professor they wish to host and the planned activities.

Eligible visiting professors are non-retired professors or researchers that must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in Italy for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the call deadline.

The visits will be carried out during 2018.

RESEARCH ACTIVITIES

There are two types of research activities:

  • Type A: visits corresponding to a stay of 30 days (on a continuous basis)
  • Type B: visits corresponding to stay of 90 days (on a continuous basis)

Only “outstanding researchers and professors,” specifically internationally renowned researchers and professors with an outstanding track record in their academic field, can be invited for Type A visits.

The gross financial contribution for the visiting professor will be:

  • Type A: € 5000 gross per month for short/medium-term visits
  • Type B: € 3000 gross per month for medium/long-term visits

The Sapienza International Office will take care of any bureaucratic and practical assistance before and after your arrival in Italy.

Foreign researchers/professors who want to express their interest can directly contact Sapienza professors, in their area of interest, to discuss a possible future collaboration.

Foreign researchers/professors who are not selected through the calls, but have personal funding from other institutions, may contact the International Office that will evaluate their request and indicate specific professors who could be interested.
