Sapienza manages more than 200 European research projects, funded within 7th Framework Programme, including 35 Marie Skłodowska-Curie and 16 ERC funded projects.
Running from 2014 to 2020, Horizon 2020 is the new financial instrument with a budget of just over €70 billion to support research and innovation.

European Research Council (ERC) grants support individual researchers of any nationality and age who wish to pursue their frontier research. The ERC encourages in particular proposals that cross disciplinary boundaries, pioneering ideas that address new and emerging fields and applications that introduce unconventional, innovative approaches.
Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowships are European research grants available to researchers regardless of their nationality or field of research. In addition to generous research funding scientists have the possibility to gain experience abroad and in the private sector, and to complete their training with competences or disciplines useful for their careers.
Researchers who want to apply will receive technical assistance provided by the International Office for the following procedures:
Once the researcher will be awarded by the European Commission, the International Office will assist him/her in the financial management of the project throughout the whole period of the fellowship. Furthermore, the office will also provide technical assistance with the bureaucratic procedures before and after the arrival in Italy.
