Horizon 2020 is the current EU Research and Innovation Programme, which will provide nearly €80 billion of funding over 7 years (2014-2020). This is the EU’s largest research and innovation programme to date and promises to catalyse breakthroughs, discoveries and inventions by taking great ideas from the lab to the market.
By coupling research and innovation, Horizon 2020 promotes smart, sustainable and inclusive growth and jobs and emphasises science, industrial leadership and societal challenges. The final goal is to ensure world-class science, remove barriers to innovation and makes it easier for the public and private sectors to work together in delivering European innovation.
