Sapienza Rector Appoints New General Director

Simonetta Ranalli has been appointed as new Director General of Sapienza University by Rector Eugenio Gaudio following the Board Meeting held on November 14, 2017 and the favourable opinion expressed by the University Senate on November 7, 2017. Simonetta Ranalli, who will take office on December 1, 2017, succeeds Carlo Musto D'Amore, Director General of Sapienza since 2001.

The selection process for a new General Director began with a public call published in September for which Sapienza received 28 applications, including candidatures from seven General Directors of other Universities. The applications were evaluated by an independent commission chaired by Sabino Cassese, former Minister of Public Order and the Constitutional Court, with the participation of Deputy State General Counselor Vincenzo Nunziata and other experts, who drafted a list of eligible candidates for the final proposal to the Collegiate Bodies.

Simonetta Ranalli, who was born in 1959, is a Sapienza alumni with a degree in Economics and Commerce. She has been working at the University since 1980 and has directed the Accounting Department since 2002 and the Accounting, Finance and Management Control Department since 2012. Ms. Ranalli he has also served as the Deputy General Director since 2015.
