On Tuesday, November 14, Sapienza University will host a lectio magistralis dedicated to the studies of Linguist Roy Harris.

Stephen Farrow, PhD, University of Oxford, Associate professor Plymouth University and English Language consultant, is the literary executor of the Roy Harris Estate. Professor Farrow will hold a lectio in English entitled “Remembering Roy Harris, the Radical Language Master” on the great linguist’s contribution to the integrational theory of language.

Roy Harris was Emeritus Professor of General Linguistics at the University of Oxford and Honorary Fellow of St Edmund Hall. He also held university teaching posts in Hong Kong, Boston and Paris and visiting fellowships at universities in South Africa and Australia, and at the Indian Institute of Advanced Study. His books on integrationism, theory of communication, semiology and the history of linguistic thought include: The Language Myth, Rethinking Writing, Saussure and his Interpreters, The Necessity of Artspeak, Rationality and the Literate Mind, After Epistemology.
