Discovering Beethoven with the “Quartetto di Cremona”

Saturday, March 18 – 5:30 pm
Aula Magna – Rectorate Building
Piazzale Aldo Moro 5, Rome

The last performance of the Cremona Quartet at Sapienza for the four-year project dedicated to "Beethoven's String Quartets” will be held on Saturday afternoon.

The quartet will perform a set of seventeen masterpieces that, like Beethoven’s symphonies and sonatas are an integral part of his artistic summa. The pieces will not be presented in chronological order, but rather will be performed so to bring out the variety and innovation of Beethoven’s genius. The performance will feature 3 Quartets, one for each phase of the artist’s life: youth, adulthood and maturity.

The Cremona Quartet emerged on the international scene thanks to their complete recordings of Beethoven’s quartets, which received a 5-star review from the BBC Music Magazine and by the Strad and was declared Disco Star of the month by the German FonoForum.
