CWUR: Sapienza Ranks First in Italy

The Centre for World University Rankings places Sapienza University first in Italy (for the 7thconsecutive year) and 67thamongst the top one hundred universities around the world, up 17 positions over last year’s rankings.

The CWUR Ranking, which rates the first 1000 out of over 18,000 international universities, is based on seven indicators: quality of education (based on number of alumni in relation to university size who have received important international awards), employment rate of alumni (based on alumni who are CEOs in top global companies), professor quality (based on significant international awards, research output (based on publications), research quality, influence (number of articles in important journals) and the number of citations in journals.

“This result is a further recognition of the quality of research produced by our scholars and education at Sapienza,” explained Rector Eugenio Gaudio. “The adoption of objective criteria in research activities, rather than mere reputation, places Sapienza first in Italy and in the top group of international universities. This result confirms the excellence of our university that already shines in other international rankings, both generic and for individual subject areas.”

This is the seventh year in a row that Sapienza is ranked first in Italy. In particular, Sapienza excelled in quality of education (34thworldwide), scientific production (61st) and research impact (71st– up 34 positions over last year).
