Project Objectives

Project Mansur will develop Masters Programmes in three Jordanian universities.

  • The energy demand is increasing in all sectors (i.e., residential, governmental and industrial);
  • Internal conventional resources are limited and national interest rests on emerging technologies in energy and energy efficiency;
  • Globalization calls for market interaction and the development of national and international energy businesses;
  • Qualified energy managers are not available locally or in the region;
  • Universities play an important role in training, research and technical support to companies and Public Authorities, but require progress in academic research and community services;
  • Energy is currently the driving engine of economy;
  • Energy represents 10-20% of the national GDP in Jordan and 52% of the State balance is devoted to paying the energy bill.

The main goal of the program is to provide a high quality education for Jordanian students covering the key aspects of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (REEE). The aim is to enable them to take responsible, creative, challenging and stimulating posts in industry or research.

The project promotes and publicizes new REEE technologies in the country and considerably increases the scale of REEE technologies application in public and private buildings, as per the Jordanian National Energy Plan. Moreover, it also addresses the social, economic and environmental issues involved in renewable energy systems.
