Project Objectives

The general objective of Project BESAFE is to transfer knowledge developed through EU co-funded projects SafetyNet and DaCoTA on road safety to Belarus. This includes:

  • Reform local curricula on road safety with a holistic approach that unites road environment, economic and statistical aspects, road safety management procedures, vehicles and road user protection and behaviour;
  • Establish joint second level degrees at the national level (120 ECTS) for engineering faculties on road safety and double degrees involving economics faculties. Second level degrees will be harmonized and recognized within the European Research Area and will meet the Bologna process standards;
  • Build a national coordinated university research network on road safety involving local universities in the wider European network of research centres and universities on road safety;
  • Help universities play a role in society at large by disseminating the knowledge acquired during the project and supporting public administrations in improving road safety, related data collection processes, etc.
