PROJECT mousse RECEIVES ERC CONSOLIDATOR GRANT

18-01-2017

The European Commission has approved Project Mousse on “Multilingual, Open-Text Unified Syntax-Independent Semantics” submitted by Sapienza Computer Science Professor Roberto Navigli for an ERC Consolidator Grant 2016.

Project Mousse proposes to employ innovative neural networks to allow computers “to comprehend” written texts in any language through the automatic creation of semantic representations of phrases that are independent from the language and comparable, independently from the syntax and lexicon used to express a given idea.

The project follows the success of the ERC Starting Grant received for MultiJEDI, also coordinated by Professor Roberto Navigli, and which lead to the creation of the popular multilingual semantics network BabelNet.

Professor Navigli is one of the few professors in Italy to have received this prestigious grant twice.

At present, a new call has been published for ERC Consolidator Grants 2017.
