Nuclear Fusion Research in Frascati


"Sapienza enthusiastically welcomes the news that the ENEA Research Centre in Frascati has been selected to study nuclear fusion. This is a result that rewards the solidity of the scientific research system in the Lazio Region and opens great perspectives for universities in the region and our university, in particular. The Lazio Region confirms its innovative drive, which is driven by local institutions, research centres universities and enterprises,” points out Sapienza Rector Eugenio Gaudio. 

The Italian National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development (ENEA) Centre in Frascati will host the first Divertor Tokamak Test Facility (DTT), an international excellence centre for research on nuclear fusion.

Sapienza shares the satisfaction expressed by the Conference of Lazio Rectors (CRUL) who underlined the positive effects that this decision will have on employment and development. In particular, activities related to nuclear fusion represent a medium- to long-term perspective to exploit the skills and competences of the new generations that are studying in Lazio universities.
