LESS SMOKE, MORE FUN!

Smoking is addictive. It ages your skin and leaves you panting. Cigarette butts thrown on the ground end up in the sea and pollute the environment. Join Sapienza’s campaign to raise awareness amongst the university community on the health damages caused by smoking.

SAPIENZA BELONGS TO YOU, RESPECT IT

Sapienza has launched this initiative to encourage the university community to improve its life style and the comfort of public spaces. Our goal is a smoke-free campus, but the positive effects will extend beyond the university: from reducing cigarette butt litter to the health benefits of smoking less.

Sapienza Rector Eugenio Gaudio explains: “Raising the awareness of the University community and, in particular, that of students, on the health damage caused by smoking is a fundamental move to invest on our future generations. One of the fundamental values that we wish to transmit to students is to promote the freedom from all addictions that compromise our health and both physical and mental welfare. This concerns both self-respect a respect for others. Sapienza is renovating lecture halls, labs, study rooms and common areas. Now, we ask students to help us to maintain the university’s decorum.”

THE BEST CHOICE IS TO STOP SMOKING: UNITAB SAPIENZA CAN HELP YOU

Unitab, the Sapienza Tobacco Unit, can provide students and personnel with free information on tobacco and its effects on your health. Unitab aims to promote a healthy life style. It is a listening point and a counselling office that can help you stop smoking through therapeutical programs.

Tobacco damages not only smokers, but the environment, too. Moreover, tobacco cultivation is in continuous expansion globally. Cigarette butts contain toxic substances and the filter decomposes in small non-degradable parts that pollute land and sea alike.
