Queen Rania Al Abdullah of Jordan has received a Doctor Honoris Causa in Development and International Cooperation from Sapienza University.
The Faculty of Political Science, Sociology and Communication approved the degree on the basis of Queen Rania’s “extraordinary contribution to international cooperation as a tool for the development of peoples, for her incessant promotion of peace and dialogue amongst cultures, and for her activities promoting the rights of children and women without any distinction in terms of nationality or religious beliefs.”
The ceremony was introduced by Sapienza Rector Eugenio Gaudio.
Rania Al Abdullah thanked the Sapienza Community and emphasized the need to create a happier and safer future by challenging whoever attacks the fundamental pillars of human civilization.
Stefania Giannini, Italian Minister for Education, University and Research also underlined the role that culture and science must play to counter terrorism in the Mediterranean area.
