Egyptological Research at the Vatican Museums

On Monday, January 15, the Sapienza Department of Humanities will host a conference on “Egyptological Research at the Vatican Museums: the Vatican Coffin Project and Other Initiatives.”

The conference will be chaired by Alessia Amena, Curator of the Egypt and Near East Section of the Vatican Museums.

The Vatican Coffin Project, initiated in 2008 by the Egyptian Antiquities Department in collaboration with the Vatican Museums Conservation and Restoration Lab, focuses on the study of polychrome wooden sarcophagi from the Third Intermediate Period.
