On Friday, December 15, John Baines, Professor Emeritus at Oxford University and one of the best renowned contemporary Egyptologists, will hold a conference on "Biographies in Ancient Egypt. From the Experience of Life to the Creation of Monuments" at Sapienza University.

The conference will focus on one of the most significant literary genres in Ancient Egypt - autobiographies celebrating the birth of a new political-social class - as a starting point to discuss Egyptian society, its representations and the biographical writings used to decorate tombs, with a particular focus on the relationship between literature and architecture.

The conference, which is open to all interested parties, is part of the didactic-scientific activities organised for specialisation course in "Egyptology: Training to Research".
